Flying Cupcake Bakery Serves the Perfect Cupcake

11/10/2008

“Let’s go to The Flying Cupcake Bakery” , Wendy suggested. I thought it was a joke… could such a place really exist outside of my dreams? She assured me it was indeed real and we should book a trip immediately. I was much obliged, of course.

The bakery is thumbs sky high! My coconut cupcake kept me extremely satisfied (even with my insatiable need for sweets!) and I considered buying a box of them. If it weren’t true that I would eat them entirely too soon. :p The bakery (+ ice cream parlor) wasn’t perfect enough with the kitsch yet chic charm~ the surrounding area was also fabulously charming. Meat market and all!

Ye-Ye Girls, the French Pop Phenomenon

11/10/2008

Do you love yé-yé girls? Do you live for the fab lifestyle that shines through music, cinema and print? What a whirl! Soaking up and inspiring yourself with the technicolor yé-yé rays is enough to send any retro fangirl over the edge, so enjoy and stay cute~

go-go dancing began in the early 60s when women at the {Peppermint Lounge} in new york city began to get up on tables and dance the twist. There were many of the 60s-era clubbers who preferred their skirts mini and their boots go-go, so club owners began to pay them to dance and entertain the guests.

yé-yé started on a popular tv show and became a popular kind of singer in the beautiful and fabulous France. The only musical movement to be lead by females was mostly european (french) but it was also pretty popular in Japan. yé-yé girls had a similar mod, stylish fashion to go-go girls, being inspired by the go-go girls from the US and the UK. What wonderful thing do you think would happen if we mixed the adorable, stylish girls of the 60s in the us and the uk with the absolute sweet and beautifully creativeness France and Japan? Exactly! yé-yé is quite a delight and the music is as divine as the record covers!

Easy, Colorful Jewelry and Plasticandy Bracelets

11/10/2008

I guarantee if you enjoy making cute, simple items this has been or will become your new favorite hobby. Preferably when drinking, relaxing, listening to records grab out your big bowl of pony beads and plastic jewelry bits. Grab some elastic cord, elastic string, invisible elastic, etc~ make sure it’s stretchy and not annoying to work with. Go to a craft shop and look in the bead/jewelry section to find a selection of elastic cord. Double stringing the bracelets is also a great idea if you’re rough on your jewelry!

Next, pick out a color scheme or shapes you like and string the beads onto the double cord. When the beads are on the cord long enough that you can easily wrap it around your wrist with no spaces between beads, Tie it. Tie it very secure and then dab a drop of clear nail polish or super glue on the knot and let it dry.

After it’s dry put the bracelet on or give it to a friend (ideal). Deck your arms out in your best ones when you’re going out to a fun club, party or rave for the night and hand out bracelets to friends and people you meet. You’ll find that when you go out and have fun you’ll usually come home with one or no bracelets. Now it’s time to make more!
